Chris: Maybe not every sport. After all, swimming is a sport! You can swim, right? I can...well, I can do an acceptable elementary backstroke, the one where you put both arms up at the same time. Learned how to do a crawl stroke in college but now it doesn't work anymore. But I've always been a GREAT floater.
Jeni: Not a bad idea! In fact, we might be able to assemble a whole team of right fielders. ;-)

One more thought -as a mother of kids who were infinitely more athletic than you and I, there were still many moments when I sat in the bleachers silently prayinig, "Please, God, just let them score one (goal, basket, etc.) or at least not come in last -please, God, just this once, let them not be last!" And I won't even go into my apparent ineptness in instilling good sportsmanship into one of my offspring.

Another lol entry in your great blog, Bob -I really enjoyed it and could, of course, totally identify with you as I too am missing any tiny piece of any sports genes, as you know, though my embarrassments include bowling (yes, it is possible to score in the single digits while earnestly trying-and people who sail the ball backward into the seats behind are not all just trying to be funny), golf (I once had to stand up to some really nasty women when they snarled repeatedly at me that I'd have to hit the ball until I hit one over the lake -after emptying most of my balls into various parts of the lake, I folded my arms and announced they could do whatever they wanted to me, but I was not hitting one more ball as I was incapable of getting one over the lake, in case they hadn't noticed, then I stocked around the lake and on into the club house, leaving them staring at my backside), basket ball. volleyball (most games, everyone just rotated around me never even offering me a chance to serve in the interest of time and protecting me from my teamates), etc. -name a sport and I cannot do it, never could -there must be some real athlete somewhere in our family history who hogged all the good genes and left us with a complete void!
