Long time since I lit the candle on that record. Incredible musicians. Amazing singers. Any pop vocalists after Deep Purple's Ian Gillan take on any successful rock-opera roles since then? I don't count any. Murray Head was amazing as Judas. I met Gillan a few years ago and we talked long about JCS. It is something that he is quite proud of.

Bob,

Fantastic album. I still have a copy in the garage and have some of the same feelings about the music of the time period. This genre of rock musical gave mainstream artists a real run for the money. Similarly, "Hair" marked the revitalization of the modern American rock musical. Both albums created a longstanding benchmark to which compositon, scores and even Broadway actors would be measured.
