I had the immense pleasure of seeing E&L in Dallas on Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1, and it was almost like a dream! It was fascinating hearing/seeing the differences over two consecutive nights. This, after going up to Colorado from OK to see the show that was to get cancelled...so the two nights in Dallas more than made up for that.
The Friday night show (Apr 30) in Dallas had some unique touches, in that Keith's keyboard tech celebrated his birthday. Keith and Greg arranged for a cake to be brought onstage, and then Keith played an impromptu "Happy Birthday", while Greg played "Peter Gunn" on his acoustic guitar, just before they started "C'est La Vie". I'd love to find a good audience recording of this show!!

If the first one hadn't been canceled we would have missed the lighting of the torches. The window was eerie. Looking in, looking out. Thought it was perhaps a fireplace screen or projection wall. EL-P

This is by far the best review of the EL's US tour I've read so far.

I went to their show in San Francisco (my very first live EL(P) show ever) on April 27, experienced and embraced the same excitement and satisfaction, luckily without much of the technical glitches though. So reading your review was almost like reliving every moment of the show. I'm so glad they were able to go back to Cleveland.

To me, this intimate EL US Tour format is so much more enjoyable than those huge arena concerts ELP used to do, as these two immensely talented musicians seized the opportunity to demonstrate what the essence of their musical union is really all about.

Thank you so much for writing this excellent article.

My husband and I flew from Atlanta to Houston to catch the show there, so I really enjoyed the recap with your review. And thank you so much for posting the QandA! Fun stuff... even with all the stutters and skips of natural speech!
