UPDATE: Called Dispatch billing immediately after receiving yesterday's paper. Explained I was no longer a subscriber but had a paper on my porch and still had online access to the electronic edition. Was assured that my subscription had been cancelled. Declined an offer to renew. Tuesday, July 6: another Dispatch on my porch.

Excellent piece, Robert! How do I become a signatory? I want to be the one with the big John Hancock signature.

Joe - Our Dispatch delivery was actually exemplary, almost always on the porch, and frequently close enough to fetch without stepping outside. I recall Lima subscribers to The Toledo Blade or USA Today having their papers lobbed from a car window and landing somewhere, anywhere, on their property.
Dan - Why, thank you. No Photoshop, but I usually tweak the exposure and sometimes apply a filter on my images using online software. This graphic had very little manipulation - just a little color balance adjustment - but otherwise it's a merely a photograph.

Bob,

I left the Lima News years ago when they moved from an afternoon to a morning paper. Along with that move came an inability to deliver to my door. I was lucky if I found my paper as near as the end of my driveway. And if there was snow on the ground, I was reduced to searching for the oblong hole near the street, indicating its now-damp existence.

I feel ya, brother.
